Abby & Kurt are one of the sweetest couples, and I could not wait to shoot their wedding day at one of my favorite venues, The Grandeur House, in Little Rock. The day started out sunny and perfect outside. Not too hot and not too cold, it was the perfect fall day. I was pinching myself as I drove to the venue – it was going to be a perfect day! Once I arrived, I noticed a few sprinkles here and there but didn’t worry too much as I figured it would pass soon enough. I was able to get a lot of detail shots finished up while the sun was shining. However, as we prepared for the first look, the skies opened up unexpectedly and the rain started to fall! I was surprised – as was everyone since the storm had not been forecasted. We were so relieved to be shooting at the Grandeur House – their upper balcony is a perfect spot for portraits when the weather is less than ideal. With its massive windows and beautiful white walls, you’d never know that outside there was an unexpected thunderstorm going on.

As we finished up the first look, we noticed the music stopped and quickly found out that there had been a power outage. Not exactly the sort of news you want on your wedding day. But Abby & Kurt remained calm and excited, and did not let the weather get to them! They were not going to let anything ruin the day, and I was so grateful that they both kept their cool while their teams got everything back on track. We were able to take some stunning rainy portraits on the outdoor covered patio while the rain pounded down, and I will admit that they are some of my favorites because of how unique they are.

By the time the ceremony started, all was running as expected! The power was on, the guests were arriving, and everything was beautiful! Abby & Kurt exchanged vows beneath two oversized arrangements. After the wedding, guests were invited into the green and white floral-draped reception space where everyone partied the night away to celebrate this beautiful new couple!
