The night before Adrienne & Chris’ engagement session, the last thing I told my husband was “Check my phone and make sure I set my alarms right.” I had multiple alarms set for 4am the next day because I was driving myself to the airport for a nonstop flight to Denver to take their engagement photos.

Little did I know, but my phone decided to reset in the middle of the night. Somehow, the update caused none of my alarms to go off, and I woke up at 6am to my toddler talking in his bed. I literally LEAPED out of my bed in a complete panic as I cried / cursed / freaked and my husband pushed me out the door. I drove to the airport in a panic, heart racing, as John found another flight for me to take. He couldn’t buy it for me because it was taking off in 30 minutes. I ran to the front desk at the airport and cried as the attendant quickly took my credit card and ID and got me on the plane with 4 minutes to spare.

Needless to say, not exactly as I had planned our day. I’d like to take some time out to mention that I never fly out day-of for weddings. Too risky! But for engagement sessions, and as a way to save money on hotels and rental cars, flying out is usually a safe bet on the same day. Even with delays I can usually get to my destination in time for an evening session.

However, not on this day. Luckily Adrienne & Chris were so understanding and kind about the horrible situation. They offered to meet me at the airport so we could immediately drive to Rocky Mountain National Park – and they even brought me a picnic lunch for the drive up there since I didn’t have time to eat after landing. Literal angels. I’m so grateful, because we connected instantly and had the best time exploring the park once we made it there.

It was colder than in Arkansas, but the weather was PERFECT. Golden fields, beautiful mountains, and warm light. As you can see from the photos, it couldn’t have turned out more beautiful – despite our plans being rearranged. And now I’m even more certain that I was meant for these two. They are dream clients. So in love, so generous, so wonderful! I am counting down the days until their fall wedding in Denver!
