Emily & Daniel’s Charleston Wedding

I’ve wanted to post more photos from this wedding ever since the day I shot it. Sweet Emily & Daniel were originally planning for an April wedding in Charleston, but as we all know the world had other plans. Because it was so early in the pandemic, they chose to postpone their wedding to July, and I’ll be honest – I wasn’t sure if it was going to happen or not. In the weeks leading up to this day, there were a lot of changes, and Emily even shared that she had planned & replanned the wedding more than 3 times altogether! As someone who has planned ONE wedding ONCE, I can’t imagine how stressful that must have been. Luckily we were blessed with an amazing sunny day in Charleston and the plans moved forward.

To describe Emily & Daniel, here’s one little thing that happened that I will cherish forever. Originally we had planned a weekend getaway to Charleston after the wedding – just me and John. We had all our restaurants picked out, and even a place to stay. When the wedding got postponed, we decided to forego our trips too, and just go to Charleston for 2 nights so we could shoot the day and get home to Jack quickly. Emily & Daniel decided to surprise us with dinner reservations for the patio at NICO, the sweetest little seafood restaurant. They also got us a generous gift card to enjoy our evening with. This kindness literally was the highlight of my entire year. John and I had the best time just the two of us. We stretched out our dinner for hours, drank so many wonderful cocktails, and ordered wayyyy too much food (which was, I might add, amazingggggg!). Just to show you how thoughtful Emily & Daniel are – the night before their wedding they were thinking of others and not of themselves. Which is why I am SO happy with how the day panned out! It was seriously so gorgeous and this couple deserved it more than I could ever ever say. There were the perfect number of guests at the wedding, and they treated their reception as a sort-of rehearsal dinner, which was SO perfect! They started with an outdoor cocktail hour, and moved indoors for an amazing meal followed by speeches and toasts, a video montage of their lives, first dances, cake cutting, and even a gelato cart outside for watching the sunset over the bay.

Emily and Daniel, being a part of this day meant the world to me and to John. Thank you for having grace and patience during this crazy time, and for showing all of us that even in a world that’s largely confusing and scary, that a sweet celebration of love is always possible. We couldn’t love you more if we tried!
